A formula mixes text with column references such as `[ID]` or `[Status]` (display or internal names) and sequences such as `[!Contracts]`. System fields (Editor, UniqueId, File_x0020_Type, ContentVersion, etc.) are supported, and values can be formatted with numeric specifiers (`0`, `#`) or .NET date/time formats after a colon — for example `CTR-[Created:yyyy]-[!Contracts:0000]`. A cross-site sequence is a counter that is unique across the whole site collection, so several lists and libraries can share one numbering range. For each sequence you set the initial value, the step and a reset rule (for example, restart every year). ### How do I configure a numbering scheme? Activate the site collection feature **Vitextra: Number Generator**, then open the list or library settings → General Settings → **Number Generator** and create a scheme with a name, content type, target field, formula and the *Regenerate* option. Number Generator is a farm solution for SharePoint Server 2013 (Foundation and Server), 2016 and 2019; it is not available for SharePoint Online. The interface is available in English and Russian.
