# How To Export a User Profile as a Business Card (vCard)

**Tools:** SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Vitextra Employee Directory

The downloaded vCard opened as a contact card showing the name, e-mail, job title, company, address and phone numbers of the employee.

## 1. Open the Employee Directory

Navigate to the SharePoint page where Employee Directory is placed, or launch the app from its tab in Microsoft Teams. Make sure you have the necessary permissions to access the directory — normal read access to the SharePoint site or Teams channel is enough, no special role is required to export a vCard.

## 2. Search for the Employee

Use the search box or the filters provided by Employee Directory to find the employee (user profile) you need. You can filter by department, job title, location, or other criteria to narrow down the results.

💡 **Tip**
See [KB10214. Employee Directory Quick Filters](https://vitextra.com/en/support/kb/10214) for a closer look at the filter bar shown above the results list.

## 3. Download the vCard

![Download the vCard](https://static.vitextra.com/articles/50021/export-user-profile-as-a-business-card-vcard-Step3-en.png)

Once you have located the employee you need, right-click their profile. From the context menu, select **Download vCard**. The business card is downloaded with the following fields, populated from the underlying data source:

- **First and Last Name** — the full name of the employee.
- **Working Email Address** — the employee's primary email address used for work communications.
- **Address** — the country, state, city, street address, and postal code of the employee's work location.
- **Company Name** — the name of the company the employee works for.
- **Job Title** — the employee's current job title.
- **Mobile and Work Phone** — contact numbers for the employee, including both mobile and work phone numbers.
- **About** — a brief description or bio of the employee, if available.
- **Profile Picture** — the employee's profile picture, if available.

📝 **Note**
Only fields that are actually filled in on the source profile (Azure AD or SharePoint User Profiles) are included in the exported vCard — an empty field on the profile simply does not appear in the file, rather than being exported as blank text.

## 4. Verify the vCard Contains Accurate Details

![Verify the vCard Contains Accurate Details](https://static.vitextra.com/articles/50021/export-user-profile-as-a-business-card-vcard-Step4-en.png)

📝 **Note**
**Ensure accuracy.** Before exporting, verify that the employee's profile information is up to date, so the vCard reflects accurate details — the export only ever reads what is already stored in the profile, it does not validate or correct it.

By following these steps, you can easily export user profiles to vCards, making it simple to share and manage contact information across different platforms and devices.

A vCard exported this way behaves exactly like any business card generated by Outlook or a phone's contacts app — double-clicking it on most devices offers to add the contact directly. Since the file is generated on demand from the live profile, re-exporting later always produces an up-to-date card, without anyone having to keep a separate address book in sync. If you need a richer, in-page view of the same details instead of a downloadable file, see [KB10199. Customize Employee Details Pane](https://vitextra.com/en/support/kb/10199).
