# Custom Attributes in Vitextra Employee Directory

Learn how to add custom attributes to the Vitextra Employee Directory web part for SharePoint, using Azure AD user properties or User Profiles managed properties.

This article explains how to add custom attributes to the Vitextra Employee Directory web part for both Azure AD and User Profiles data sources.

## Introduction

The [Vitextra Employee Directory](https://vitextra.com/en/products/employee-directory) web part supports custom attributes starting from version 3.2.15.
You can add attributes for both User Profiles and Azure AD data sources.

## Custom Attributes

To manage custom attributes, open the web part configuration pane and select **Custom Columns** under the Data Source heading:

In the data editor, enter the schema name and caption for each additional attribute:

Click **Save** and republish the page.

The additional attributes then appear in the employee details pane:

The schema name of custom fields depends on the data source the web part uses.

## Azure AD

When the data source is Azure AD, the available user attributes are defined in the [User resource type](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/resources/user?view=graph-rest-1.0#properties).

💡 **Tip**
Because Employee Directory uses the Microsoft Graph API to retrieve data from Azure AD,
only properties of the [user resource type](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/resources/user?view=graph-rest-1.0#properties)
are available for use.

Not all properties of the user resource type support the `$select` operation.
If you reference an unsupported property, the following error message may appear:

## User Profiles

When User Profiles is used as the data source, you can reference Managed Properties as custom attributes on the details pane.
