The Announcements Carousel makes it easy to create and manage essential announcements for your SharePoint Online site. The web part is fully responsive, so announcements look great on desktops, tablets, and smartphones alike, and its interface is localized into more than 50 languages.
Built-in SharePoint Announcements
The Announcements Carousel displays information from native SharePoint lists. Once the web part is added to a page, you can choose an existing list as the data source or create a new list in a single click, so your data is never duplicated.
Because the content lives in a standard announcements list, your team keeps working with familiar SharePoint tools — and the data never leaves your Microsoft 365 tenant.
Rich, Time-Limited Announcements
Each announcement carries a title, a message body with formatted text, links, and images, and optional file attachments — everything you need to make a message clear and actionable.
Set an expiration date on an announcement and the carousel retires it automatically when the time comes: outdated news simply disappears from the page, and nobody has to clean up.
Order and Control What Is Shown
Decide which announcement comes first: sort by priority, newest first, oldest first, or by title. Limit the number of announcements in the carousel, and — when your list uses content approval — show approved items only, so unreviewed drafts never reach your audience.
Fine-tune the look and behavior in the property pane: carousel layout and slide transition, color tag, author and date, attachments, autoplay with a custom interval, and pagination dots.
Auto-Hide the Web Part
If there are no active announcements to show, the carousel disappears from the page entirely to keep the page layout clean and consistent. It comes back automatically as soon as a new announcement is published.

How do I create a new announcement?
To create a new announcement, open the list of announcements, fill in fields such as title, message, expiration date, and additional media attachments, then save it. The link to the list is available in the web part configuration pane and in the top actions bar of the web part.

🚀 New features
- Autoplay — the carousel can rotate slides automatically at a configurable interval (
autoplayInterval, 2–30 s). Rotation pauses on hover/focus, and a Play/Pause button lets visitors take control. - Pagination dots — clickable dots show the current position and let you jump straight to any announcement, alongside the previous/next arrows.
- Keyboard & touch navigation — arrow keys (←/→) move between announcements and swipe gestures work on touch devices.
- Transition styles — choose between Slide and Fade animations.
- Color tag & emoji — the color and emoji you set on a modern Announcements list item are now shown on the card (they were read before but never displayed).
- Sorting options — sort by Priority (the list Order field), Newest, Oldest or Title (A–Z).
- Approved items only — optionally hide items that are pending or rejected in list moderation.
- Author & date — an optional meta line with the author, creation date and an expiry indicator.
- Item limit — cap how many announcements are shown (
maxItems). - Layout modes — display announcements as a Carousel or as a Stacked list of cards.
- Right-to-left support — controls and layout follow RTL locales.
- Microsoft Teams tab — the web part can now be added as a Teams channel tab.
🐛 Fixes
- The web part no longer crashes when the list has no items to show (removed an unsafe DOM lookup during render).
- Only approved announcements are shown by default; pending/rejected items are respected.
- Announcements are ordered by their Order (priority) field instead of always by creation date.
- Accessibility: proper carousel roles,
aria-liveregion, focus handling and keyboard support; hidden slides are no longer announced by screen readers.
